Fall is always a busy time of year for many people. From school starting back up to the weather changing and wanting to relish the last bits of the warm temperatures. Fall also means Senior Portraits. I love being able to work in the studio and head outside for some Old Port Senior Portraits.
Having the studio right in the heart of Portland’s bustling Old Port means we have so much to work with. From classic to contemporary studio work to urban scenery and city streets. Sam and his mom took full advantage of this for his Old Port Senior session and I love how they turned out.
There are many reasons to have a portrait taken and a senior’s final year in high school is touted as a big deal, and for many it is. The end of an era and the beginning of a new one. From living at home to possibly moving away to college or trade school. No wonder parents like having photographs of their seniors at this time. It really is a transitional period that deserves to be remembered or at least to have to look back on down the road.
For Sam, a laid-back casual session fit his personality perfectly. He opted for simple outfits and we paired them with simple backgrounds in the studio so he was the main focus. We also ventured down onto the streets for some more chill vibes. I love that you can go from rustic wood to clean and modern within a block here in the Old Port. The orange wall was a great find by Sam’s mom. I definitely think I will head back there to use that as a background.
