As a researcher, writer, and educator in the Environmental Humanities, Scot McFarlane has a passion for history. He founded his company, The Oxbow History Company, a consulting firm that create[s] comprehensive histories of families, businesses, properties, and organizations to help them discover and share lessons from their past.
Scot does many amazing things and was inspired by the ever-changing landscape surrounding a river. From the shifts of water to the creation of land masses and bodies of water. It reminded him of how similar discovering and building the history of something or someone was.
That inspiration, really the drive for what he does, was brought into his Personal Branding session. Incorporating the blues and greens of water and land and also throwing in a little something different with a darker, moodier, look.
I love working with elements from someone’s brand or business inspiration in the images we create. makes the imagery have a deeper meaning and connects the person to their art, craft, and work. Then all that remains is that synergy of posing, expression, and lighting. All of this is unique to each person and why I love the process.
If you are in need of curating history be sure to talk with Scot McFarlane. Or read more of his work through his personal website.
