Pamela | Mystery Author

A mystery writer comes into her own through the crime-solving adventures of the main character in her novel series. Pamela draws from her own life experiences to develop the character throughout a series of books that combine elements of Magical Realism, Crime, Suspense, and Metaphysical and Visionary fiction (taken from her Amazon author bio). Having had a photo session done recently that didn’t portray who she was, and a looming deadline for the next few books. Pamela reached out to me for an update.

“I don’t want to look like a suburban soccer mom” is what Pamela told me at our consultation. As we talked and I learned more about her and her story it was apparent she was not a suburban soccer mom. Given the genre of books she was writing we honed in on what was her style. She described her style as Black tops, dark jeans, and boots with an openness to a smokey eye and bold lip. The shiny, satin pink, and purple tops she brought were suddenly not the direction we wanted to go. I love when things like this happen at the consultation as we can dial in on who the person is through imagery and wardrobe styling. And bringing the person to life. In this case a successful mystery author.

Bringing in the mystery and innate contrast of light and shadow from her work into the imagery was a goal of hers. Truly representing the mystery author persona. We discussed how shadows and the direction of lights can make for a moodier look to the images and she was all in. The smokey eye and bold lip also made an appearance in the final look of the session. The amazing Stephanie Lyman of Flawless Pros Professional On-site Hair and Makeup completed the vibe through her exquisite work and attention to Pamela’s wants.

An amazing session for an incredible author. I wish her abundant success as she steps into art as a mystery author. Thank you Pamela for working with me.
