Kelly Caufield is a force on stage. Singing with the Larry Williams Band for weddings and events. Her skills and talents in her art don’t stop there. Her passion for singing spreads into the practice room and in lessons with her students.
This session was more than just a performer’s portrait session. It was something personal for Kelly, as she stepped more into who she is and came out of several major life changes. Many clients have expressed this desire to showcase who they are in portraits in addition to getting images they can use for the brand, art, or business. It is a vulnerable experience being in front of the camera and then seeing yourself as others see you. It is that blending of visions that really makes the experience special.
During the consultation, Kelly shared she wanted to show various facets of who she now is. From the casual and cozy through the glamorous performer, ‘Diva,’ persona. The outfits and colors that she brought had all that and more. Including a sentimental scarf. Stephanie from Flawless Pros On-sight Hair and Makeup completed the looks with amazing hair and makeup. It is a collaborative effort from everyone involved including the client.

After the shoot, we connected again via zoom for a Why Music interview where Kelly and I discussed music and her relationship with her craft. One thing that stood out to me was how she described music, and specifically singing, as being from you and you have to put you into the music.
This innate feeling of relating music to our soul is also brought to her lessons where she says every lesson is a different mirror and it reflects back to us what need or see in ourselves.
