Keith Field Goldsmith

Keith Field, Custom Jewelry designer and craftsman in his shopWatching artists and craftsmen in their workspace doing their thing fascinates me. So when Keith Field Goldsmith in Brunswick Maine reached out for some custom portraits and behind the scenes imagery I was super excited. I don’t think I have ever seen the process of a piece of jewelry being made.

I had the pleasure of working with the whole team and seeing the beautiful space and workshop they have at their location on Maine Street in Brunswick. Keith, Owner and Jewelry Designer creates beautiful custom pieces and Hannah, his daughter who is Fine Jewelry Appraiser. They also have Andrew, Customer Jewelry Consultant, and Joshua, their Fine Jewelry Consultant, who work for them. An incredible team. Not only are these people humble but they are extremely passionate about what they do and they do it well.

With a website redesign and a rebrand of sorts, new imagery was needed that would fit their new design and branding. The Design Consultation is a very important part of any photo shoot, but more so when it is for a small business or branding. There are a lot of variables and specific needs so meeting before the shoot to solidify all that is vital. We met at their shop to talk through what was needed and how they were going to be using the images. Hannah also brought some specific shots that they were planning to use on specific pages of their new website. From updated headshots to behind the scenes to Keith working in his shop. They wanted to create a full picture of what goes on in their shop.

The plan we created certainly made the shoot day run very smoothly. I find having a checklist for shots that can be crossed off gives me more room for creativity after we get what is needed and sometimes those images are the favorites. There were many times where I got what we were looking for but then found a different angle or perspective that made for a more dynamic shot.
