Kate is a board certified Music Therapist and has been vital to bringing this profession and services to the state of Maine. She was one of, if not THE first music therapist in the state of Maine. A thriving client base from families with children who have developmental and behavioral issues, hospital care, and working with patients who have neurological damage to regain basic motor skills. A broad spectrum of clients and keeps her busy with her company Maine Music and Health. A little personal branding portraits for her website and promotional materials that turned into something a little more.
We got to chat after our photo session and some incredible stories of clients and their transformation just through the use of music. Take a non-verbal, sedentary woman who transformed into being active and speaking. The love of instruments and rhythm promoted the environment for her to move. While, using song to reinforce speech patterns slowly brought out the words. She has a bright soul and does incredible work. Just one of the many amazing stories she has.
I first met her in college and performed with her on many occasions in the percussion section of several ensembles. She continues to perform throughout the Portland, Maine area. At her Image Reveal, she commented that she looked like her grandmother; especially in the image above. This is something a little more than just a personal branding or headshot. When clients can connect to themselves, or their loved ones, in their portraits, it is a wonderful thing. I am grateful to have been able to work with her. Her love for the important work she does is infectious. She has found her art.
