How Many Images do I Need for my Personal Brand?

It depends. I know it’s not the answer you were probably looking for but let me explain. There are a number of different variables that go into this decision just as there are a number of different variables that make every business unique. Here are some ways to help decipher how many images you may need.

What kind of business do you have?

Are you a service-based business, a product-based business that has a new online, and/or brick and mortar, storefront? A coach or speaker? A product-based business is going to have a need for more images because of the physical products being sold whereas a service-based brand, or coach may only need a dozen to start.

How long has your business been around?

A newer business owner who is creating their first website may only be able to afford a few for the website. Be strategic on which images are the most important and needed based on your website design and social media posting habits.

A well-established business can use more images for their website, social media, advertising, and such as there is more to the business.

So What’s the Answer?

Taking those things into account here are some recommendations:

  • 3-5 images for the brand new business that needs to get their basic website off the ground.
  • 6-10 images for the brand that has a little more elaborate website and needs variety across multiple pages. Or someone who has specific uses for images like ads or digital product creation
  • 10-20 images for the brand that is well established and looking to build their image library. Think custom stock photos that are on-brand. Used on web pages, marketing, social media, etc.
  • 20+ images. A social media heavy brand that needs a lot of variety of kinds of images as well as uses. Influencers and those looking to have social media content to fill a whole month of posting.
