More is better, right? Not always. With a title that has “variety” in the title, you may be thinking this doesn’t make any sense. Let me explain.
Headshots and personal branding portraits, for many artists, entrepreneurs, realtors, actors and the like need to really show what their brand stands for. Let’s face it if you are a performing artist, coach, or musician your face is your brand. One solid image; from pose to expression and personality, can do all of that. Ok, so you have one solid image that you use EVERYWHERE. Does, or can, that one image really show all of that? Why not have 2-3 solid images that convey different things?
First of all, if you have a website you can show the variety by changing the image you use on different pages. Secondly, you can also use those images based on the type of business you are looking to attract. Actors can play a multitude of different roles and often times look for those specific roles to play. A headshot for each of those personas would be a great way to really go after the roles you want.
Take Lexie above. She is an actor and came to me with a clear vision of what she wanted to portray and I think we nailed. I say we because it is very much a collaboration between photographer and subject. The process is more involved than just pushing a button, it means really getting to know the needs and intention behind the images.
That goes for Entrepreneurs and business owners as well. Making the time to think about and create the right imagery with the right variety will attract the right clients. And really show what your brand and service is all about. Going beyond the standard headshot can do wonders for your business and art. So what do you want to portray with your art or business that can be captured in a portrait? Maybe you do need more than just one headshot you have been using for 3 years now. Show some variety.
