Watching someone grow into their craft and purpose is so inspiring. While new to the music education arena, Hailey Francoeur, has incredible drive and passion for her work. I am so excited to watch her evolve as a percussionist and educator.
As a Portrait Photographer, seeing people come into their truest selves is where I love being. I truly believe we are our truest selves when we are living our own art. A side of us comes alive and you can see and feel the shift in personality. That is the magic. That is the person I want to photograph. Happy to share the images from our shoot and her Why Music interview at the end of this post.
I met Hailey when I was asked to help with a high school marching band as their front ensemble instructor. She was just starting college as a music education major and was teaching the drumline. So her career as a Percussionist and Educator had only really just begun. It was apparent from the beginning that this was the work she should be doing. Not only enriching students’ lives with music but rather through music.
Hailey and I sat down for a Why Music Interview and she mentions her experience in drumline in high school was filled with more than just playing notes on the page. She felt the life lessons were ingrained through the experience of rehearsals, performances, and individual practicing. The people had a profound impact on her craft and life. I couldn’t agree more and had similar experiences in my high school music program.
Hailey is now pursuing her own path of teaching music. Through individual lessons, group classes, and teaching in the public schools she really has honed in on her own approach and personality as an educator. After our photoshoot, she launched her new website to share what she is doing. Check it out and also listen to her interview below.
