With any book launch, there needs to be a lot of marketing and push to get the book noticed. Having awesome imagery can help. Especially when it is a unique situation like you are writing a book with your son.
Steve was the one to reach out to me and who was working with their publishing company and expressed the need for images for the book jacket as well as social media. Since he was writing the book with his son Spencer, having a photograph of them together would be a great addition to the book cover. Spencer as it turned out also needed a headshot. As authors, the minimum is getting a professional headshot for the book jacket.
Ultimately, Steve needed a few more images for his coaching business as well as social media so he could promote the book.
Having an idea of what kinds of images are needed helps when planning for a session. I purposefully include my clients in that process so that our visions align and blend so that I am able to produce images that are right in line with what they are looking for. Each client comes with a varying degree of clarity around what they are looking for but during the process, we are able to narrow down what the branding will look like, colors, other visual elements and then apply that to what the images will look like. Having everything all figured out is not a requirement to schedule a photo session.
