This project, Why Music, has been a fascinating journey through my own musical experiences through others. Another recent session definitely had a lasting effect on me. A wise and talented musician who has a way with words that eloquently put his connection to music into words. Meet David Jacquet.
I met Dave through social media initially; Twitter was a fun place we back when. I have not been active on that platform for quite some time but still keep in touch with many of those friends I made there, and thus in real life. Dave was one of those people. Truly humble, kind, and just a positive energy to be around. When I asked him if he would be part of this project he was hesitant stating he doesn’t like photos of himself as none of them have really “looked like him.” Having something you are passionate about is the best way to bring out the truest version of self. Music has a way of doing that and I feel this was the case with Dave.
Starting with an audio interview and reconnecting to why he does what he does was captivating. A look into the purpose behind the music, into the soul behind the sounds, words, and rhythms that come out. Again being reminded of why I am doing this project, my purpose. These experiences and connections to our art are what makes us human and need to be shared. Enjoy!
