What a difference updating your website template and having new images can make. A little boost in confidence as well as a more accurate representation of you, your art, and your brand. Recently working with a client on images for her new website was a testament to just that.
With the idea to refresh a brand and website, Maria Wagner, came to me with a vision for what she was looking for. Prep work and research had already been started and we work to meld the vision and imagery. This is a brief look at how we approached this project with some before and after looks at the website she created.
The Process
Pre-Shoot Consultation
We met to discuss everything. I mean everything. We talked style of photos, and looked at examples she liked and some I was thinking. We looked at website templates and her template, in particular, to see how the images would be displayed and used; large horizontal images as breaks in the text was the main focus. Locations and timing were also in the conversation. She came with a lot of research and prep work already done and a distinct vision for what she wanted. We developed a plan for how we would execute the vision and I got to work sketching ideas and location scouting.
Photo Shoot
The day of the shoot we were going to utilize the yoga studio she teaches out of and then moved to an outdoor location for some variety. Unfortunately, it rained as we were finishing up inside so postponed the outdoor portion to another day. We had plenty to work with from the indoor shoot to get things going and would just add the outdoor photos into the mix. Then it was on me to process and edit the images.
Image Reveal and Use Discussion
Once they were all done we met up again. I think this is the most important part of the process we go through as it solidifies everything and allows for more discussion around the other images we got. She ended up using a verticle shot for the About Me section on her website. We narrowed down her choices and discussed how it would look on the site. I know I feel like the project is incomplete when the images are in an online gallery or delivered digitally. I’m sure clients feel that way too. Without this discussion, we wouldn’t have realized an image needed to be adjusted so that text could be placed over it.
Everything is discussed to make sure all aspects of the project is touched upon from the beginning.
So here are some before images of her website. You may recognize some of the images as we worked together for the initial website creation.
Now with the new, light and airy she was looking for here are a couple screenshots from the new website. You can always check out her site in person at www.mariawagnerclarinet.com.
