Winning awards is not a major goal for me but I do see it as a way to improve my craft and vision for the work I do. Online classes and workshops have been the bulk of my training, aside from doing the actual work with clients or on my own. Submitting images for critique and judging is a necessary part of the process, I feel anyway. I have submitted another image to The Portrait Masters Accreditation program and pleased to announce that it received a Bronze award.
So you may ask why submit images into programs like this? First of all, this program has world-renowned photographers judging the images. Secondly, the program is not just about the award but as an accreditation program, certifying photographers as a master in their craft based on the progression of the images they submit. The only way to achieve this is to actually do the work and create images.
By submitting the best of the best into a portfolio that shows consistency and attention to detail. A photographer can earn an Associate, Masters, and Grand Master Some of the criteria include a connection to the camera, posing, editing. Receiving a rating for each.
So how does this apply to you? Well, the work I produce is mostly for clients, and I want to give the best possible images for each client I work with. This bronze award is a testament to all of the work that I have done to get where I am at. And to show that there still is more to learn, so that I can provide the best images for my clients. When was the last time you were photographed?
